Privacy Policy
What this site collects, why, where it goes and how long it is kept. The short version: enquiries you send us, standard server logs and Google Analytics usage statistics. Nothing is sold.

Who we are
Humanising Technologies is a software and AI consultancy based in Brisbane, Queensland, run by Greg Turner. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Humanising Technologies. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
For any privacy question or request, email greg@humanisingtechnologies.au.
What we collect
When you use the contact form
The form asks for your name, email address, organisation (optional) and a message. We also record the IP address the request came from, which is used to limit how many messages one address can send and to investigate spam or delivery problems.
When you use the enquiry form in the HL7 converter
The HL7 v2 to FHIR converter has its own enquiry form, which asks for your name, work email and an optional note. With it we receive which part of the tool you sent it from, the HL7 message type you were converting (for example ADT^A01) and whether the conversion left any segments unmapped. The HL7 message itself is never included. Your IP address is used to limit how many enquiries one address can send.
When you email us directly
We receive whatever you include in the email, along with your email address and the usual message headers.
When you browse the site
Like almost every web server, ours keeps a standard access log of each request: IP address, date and time, the page or file requested, the referring page and your browser's user-agent string. We use it to keep the site running and secure, not to profile visitors.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they read and how they found us. When a page loads, Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser (named _ga and _ga_YRT0PT9SFB) that give your browser a random identifier, so repeat visits can be counted. It sends Google the pages you view, the referring page, your browser and device type, screen size, approximate location (derived from your IP address) and how you interact with the page.
We see this only as aggregated reports. It does not tell us who you are, and we do not try to identify individual visitors. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy; you can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
You can opt out by blocking cookies for this site, using a content blocker, or installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way.
What we do not collect
- No advertising tags. Apart from Google Analytics, there are no tracking pixels, advertising tags or other third-party scripts. Fonts and images are served from our own server.
- No HL7 messages. The HL7 v2 to FHIR converter runs in your browser. The messages you paste into it are not sent to us.
Please do not send health information or other sensitive information through the contact form. A short description of the problem is all we need to start a conversation.
How we use it
We use the information you send us to read and reply to your enquiry, work out whether we can help, and carry on any work that follows. We use server logs to operate, secure and fix the site, and Google Analytics reports to understand which content is useful.
We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who else handles it
We use a small number of service providers to run the site and handle email. Each one handles your information only to provide its service to us.
- Hetzner Online hosts the web server, which holds the access logs and the contact form service. The server is located in Finland.
- Resend delivers contact form and HL7 converter enquiries to our inbox by email. Resend is based in the United States.
- Google provides Google Analytics, described above. Google is based in the United States and may process analytics data there and in other countries.
- Google Workspace provides our email, so enquiries and correspondence are stored by Google, which may hold data in the United States and other countries.
Because these providers are overseas, visiting the site, using the contact form or emailing us means your information will be handled outside Australia. We do not otherwise disclose personal information unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Web server access logs are rotated daily and deleted after 14 days.
- Google Analytics data is kept by Google for the retention period set on our Analytics account, after which it is deleted from Google's reports. The
_gacookies expire after up to two years unless you clear them sooner. - Contact form records. The contact form service logs a one-line delivery record of each submission (email address, IP address and time) for troubleshooting. The message itself is not stored on the web server; it is delivered to our inbox.
- Emails and enquiries are kept as business correspondence for as long as they are useful to us or as long as we are required to keep business records. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. The contact form service runs isolated from the rest of the server with restricted permissions, and access to the server and mailbox is limited to us. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
Access, correction and deletion
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email greg@humanisingtechnologies.au and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are before acting on a request.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect or how we handle it changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
